Check-in Instructions: Moose & Merlin Cabin
SUMMER & FALL INSTRUCTIONS
You will find Wreck Cove Wilderness Cabins on Google Maps. My address is 42321 Cabot Trail. When you pull in the driveway, you will see 3 cabins. Keep right and you will see signage pointing towards a road going into the woods marked by buoys.
You will see the cabin ahead right away. The outhouse is just a few seconds walk beyond the cabin.
The door will be unlocked, key on the bedside table, map of the trails on the property on the table - check these out before you head out so you don’t miss anything!
WINTER INSTRUCTIONS
You will find Wreck Cove Wilderness Cabins on Google Maps. My address is 42321 Cabot Trail. When you pull in the driveway, park to the right of cabin 3 where a black cart is waiting for you. Take the plowed road to the cabin on foot. It is too narrow a road to predict how cars could get in and out during winter, so parking is not at the cabin.
You will see the cabin ahead right away as you walk down the road. Outhouse is just a few seconds walk beyond the cabin.
The door will be unlocked, key on the bedside table, map of the trails on the property on the table - check these out before you head out so you don’t miss anything!
4. Laminated instructions for the wood stove, the outdoor fire pit, house rules, check out, and pets are on the table.
5. There is a 5 gallon jug of water under the sink. If you need more, instructions for filling up are on the table.
6. Check in is 4:00PM unless arranged otherwise with Jay. Please do not arrive early. Check out is 11:00 AM.
7. If you need a cooler or ice packs during your stay, please let me know.
If you have pets coming:
• Pls bring poop bags and clean up after your pet. As a mushroom forager, it is greatly appreciated that you don’t just send your dogs off into the woods to poop. Please pack out what you pack in.
• Bring a bed or blanket for your pets comfort. Pets are not allowed on the bed.
Indoor / Outdoor Fires:
• There is firewood / kindling in a drawer under the woodstove. Paper and birch bark to the right of the stove.
• For outdoor fires, split wood is available under the shelter in the parking lot. There are also piles of brush and cut wood along the site / trails you are welcome to burn. Do not burn the wood stove wood in the drawer outside.
• Please do not rip birch bark off the trees to start fires, take from the ground only. Be safe.
If it is winter:
Bring the appropriate clothing, footwear, extra blankets, dog bedding, and other small comforts with you. If you have any questions about how to pack, text Jay directly about it (902 233 4750).
The cabin is insulated but the floor is not. Bring slippers and something warm for your dog to sleep on (pets are not allowed on beds at all).
Remember that this cabin does not have a shower. Short stays make the most sense! Pricing etc here.
