Hi! I’m Jay.
I started Highland Bow & Arrow in 2017 just down the road from the place I call home: Wreck Cove! Back then, the range was a gravel pit in a tiny blip on the Cabot Trail map called Skir Dhu (which is Gaelic for “black rock”). Check out a photo album of the three years I taught archery at my previous location.
In October 2019, I took over Wreck Cove Wilderness cabins from a previous owner who operated them for 23 years. I rent two cabins year-round and I live on site to help with anything I can. I teach archery all summer and fall (June until December) and tend to winter guests in the cabin during the cold months.
I am obsessed with foraging plants and fungi, and have even created a Fungi Database on my website to show off all the amazing fungus that grows here. I host events annually having to do with foraging, flower pressing, archery and more - check them out here. I also have a couple crazy cats that love to hike my trails and climb trees for social media - you can follow me @wreckcovewilderness.
If you already know me and enjoyed your experience, consider leaving a Google review to let me know :)
I am in this free documentary from back in 2020 if you’d like to take a look.
