Check-in Instructions: Sunnyside Cabin

You will find Wreck Cove Wilderness Cabins on maps, and the address is 42321 Cabot Trail.

Check-in is 4:00pm. Please do not arrive earlier unless agreed upon with Jay. Check-out is 11:00am.

When you pull in the driveway, you will see 3 cabins. Sunnyside is on the far left with the bright yellow door, marked with a #1.

The door will be unlocked. Keys on the dining table, along with a map of the trails on the property. This map will tell you the best way to start your journey, so check it out before you head out.

Further info such as WIFI password and check-out instructions on the refrigerator. If you have a dog, a pet basket will be provided.

WOOD STOVE NOTES:

  • Unless your stay is longer than 3 nights, the amount of wood and kindling in the cabin is what is provided to you. Please use it wisely and enjoy the electric heat as backup.

  • A common error people make is loading up the stove too much and getting very hot throughout the night. Load a moderate amount of wood throughout the night.

  1. Is the water potable? Yes.

  2. Are you pet friendly? Yup! Check out the policy around pets. I max out at 3 dogs.

  3. Coffee situation? There is a regular coffee maker, a french press and pour overs for on top of mugs. Filters. Black and herbal tea provided. Sugar provided. Loose tea steeper provided.

  4. Are there pots and pans? Pretty much everything you need to cook and serve a meal is in the kitchen. Frying pans, pots, stock pots, utensils, a small baking sheet, casserole dishes, cheese grater, can opener, wine opener, teapot, cutting boards, mixing bowls, strainer, wine glasses, dishes.

  5. Is there electric heat? Yes. In addition to the wood stove, there is heating in every room.

  6. Do you have cable? The TV’s have firesticks that are hooked up to ad-free Prime. Extra channels get subscribed to and switched up often, and you are welcome to sign in and use your own accounts during your stay.

  7. Can I get more wood for the wood stove? If you are here for 2 nights or less, there is enough wood provided to you for that length of time in the cabin. Use the damper and use wood wisely.

    3 nights or more: wood can be accessed anytime or timing can be arranged to deliver it. I often leave a cart-full by the front door which you can load yourself at your leisure in the winter. It is also a short walk to get it yourself.

  8. What about archery lessons? All lessons are booked ahead of time with Jay. Favorite way to be contacted is by text: 902 233 4750. Check out the pricing of the two experiences that run from June - November.

  9. Can I have an outdoor fire? Yes! Anytime. There is a communal fire pit by the shelter in the main lot with wood under it. In the summer mostly, you need to check to see if this is legal by going to the Government Burn Ban website. If it is legal to burn, go for it. If you need more wood, text Jay.

  10. Are there games or anything? Yup! A whole trunk full of board games, puzzles, art supplies and fun books to read.
